Jemma Irvine

Jemma is a Textiles student at AUB ( Arts University Bournemouth) and her work is so unique and clever I thought i'd share some of her pieces with you;

Jacqueline Morby- Jemma Irvine

The blue 3D floral is one of Jemmas final piece that she displayed and presented as her exhibition piece. Her inspiration for this came by a previous graduate at royal college of art.

The Floral pieces are stitched using different colour threads and individually made 15 flowers in 14 hours.  She individually made the petals on calico and put the pieces together to create unique petals. This piece was displayed at the Aspex Gallary in Portsmouth earlier on this year.

The next piece is a digital illustration, I really like this piece because of all the different patterns and the way she put it together, She used adobe illustrator to transform her drawing into a digital piece and repeated the pattern to come up with this pattern.

Jemma went and done an Intern with Rowan Mersh and while she was there she helped him with this work, its made up of 40K individually sanded down and pieced together to create this piece. The illusion that the texture is so clever, it looks so soft but really, its not.

Here is some more samples of Jemmas work, I like the colours and the detail in the pieces that she does, everything Jemma produces is completely different to the last. She isnt afraid of trying new ways and expanding her knowledge on how to progress herself... After looking through her uni and college work you can see how far she has come already, and I believe after a her two years left at uni Jemma will progress onto making a career out of her passion.
She has had the opportunity to work with people such as Rowan Mersh (as shown above) Leutton Postle, Jan Knibbs. In her first year of uni this has given her an opportunity to see how people work in the world she wants to develop in so I think she has had such good luck having these chances to get in there and see what its like.
Leutton Postle are a high end fashion company where as Jan Knibbs is a freelance designer, so this gave her a chance to explore the difference in the individual working environments.
